Long time Long time Rus board member and leader Paula Downing is fondly remembered by so many in our community. From her ongoing work with our Community Apple Press and championing the Heritage Turkey Project, Paula was an indefatigable friend to furthering school gardens and Sonoma County farmers, fisherfolk, and foodmakers whom live our good, clean, and fair values.
Paula, you will be missed. 🐌❤️🍏🦃We at Farm Trails mourn the passing of Paula Downing early last week. Paula was an indefatigable champion of local farms and farmers since the 1990s. She formerly served on the Farm Trails Board of Directors, on the leadership council at Slow Food Russian River, and as longtime manager of the Sebastopol Farmers' Market. We had expected to spend Saturday with Paula at the Gravenstein Apple Fair, where she was slated to be a panelist on the Life on the Farm stage. Instead, we paid tribute to her during the panel, and hope you were able to join us in that collective memorial.
