Apple Cider Pressing with the Sonoma Land Trust

Slow Food Russian River is partnering with the Sonoma Land Trust to bring apple cider pressing, apple cider, and local cheese to a SLT event in celebration of the restoration of the stone barn at historic Glen Oaks Ranch, located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley Wildlife Corridor.

Bring your own lunch and enjoy the picnic areas, open hiking trails and a self-guided Nature Quest.

Join volunteers for Slow Food to make cider using an old-fashioned apple press and learn about the Sebastopol Community Apple Press project. We’ll use apples from your trees or ours. Bring jars if you’d like to take some cider home. For the adults, we’ll also have some local hard cider to taste.

Speakers are Ellen Cavalli of Tilted Shed Cider, who will speak about her adventures with making cider as well as the emerging and exciting cider industry in Sonoma County

Ted Richardson of Bella Ridge has been growing apples in Sonoma County for several decades. He will speak about the joys and sorrows of growing apples in Sonoma County.

Anna Hancock of Pug’s Leap Cheese in Petaluma will say a few words about her cheese making endeavors.

There will be a delicious tasting of cider, cheese and apples.
