We want to be your local Sonoma County chapter and we have some great events coming up:

Our Apple Core group will be running the Sebastopol Free Community Apple Press during the Apple Season. We hand out freshly pressed apple juice made from local fruit at selected farmers markets. We’re be at the markets in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa West End. Also at the Gravenstein Apple Fair, “The Sweetest Little Fair in Sonoma County”, August 13 and 14, 2016.

Beyond that, two film nights, a cheese and cider event, a meat event, our continuing book group dinners, our quarterly open house, a holiday event, and more.

100 Years of Plenty campaign

Our national 100 Years of Plenty campaign is working to protect biodiversity. Your contribution will help the thousands of small farmers, chefs, food activists, and others who are working to secure our shared food future.

Because of the plight of our biodiversity it became more urgent than ever we started this campaign.

Remember that during the last century, we lost 95 percent of the agricultural biodiversity in the United States. This pattern is not a future we can afford. That’s why we’re launching the #100YearsofPlenty Campaign for the month of June. The campaign highlights biodiversity heroes who identify, cultivate and celebrate food products on the brink of extinction.

Therefore, make a gift today to support the Ark of Taste and watch the campaign unfold this month on Facebook, Twitter  and Instagram.

Ark of Taste

The Ark of Taste is a living catalog of delicious and distinctive foods facing extinction. By identifying and championing these foods we keep them in production and on our plates. With your support of the #100YearsOfPlenty campaign, we can reverse the tide of food and agriculture losses that defined the last century.

And we at Slow Food in Sonoma County are working diligently to board local foodstuff on the Ark of Taste. To date we have listed the Gravenstein Apple, the Bodega Red Potato, and the Crane Melon of Santa Rosa.

By the way, you can buy this delicious Crane Melon at the Crane Melon Barn, 4935 Petaluma Hill Road, Santa Rosa, CA.

Currently we are researching the Petaluma Gold Rush bean, a strawberry, hops, and a walnut. Write us if you have questions or comments.
