The booth of the Apple Core of Slow Food Russian River at the Gravenstein Apple Fair on August 8 and 9, 2015 was a great success.

On Saturday we pressed 1200 pounds of Gravenstein apples and gave away 3200 servings of apple cider. And on Sunday we pressed 1000 pounds of apples and gave away 2500 servings of cider. We got the apples from Guisti’s, Walker’s and Dutton’s. They were beautiful, mostly small apples, or culls, often used for juicing.

The most often repeated comments from the fairgoers, old and young, were:

” This tastes just like an apple “

                  ” Is it just apples?

                   ” THIS IS FREE??!!”

Thank you to our incredible volunteers: Keith, Bob, Doug, Pam, Jizell, Anne, Paula, David, Glen, Carol, Max, Lauren, Mike, Frances, Pell, Susan, Laura, Karen, Rowan and Joann. We could never have done it without you.
